Knapen's visit Oregon

What a fun surprise to get an email form Anne Marie, JW's mom, to let me know that they were visiting Oregon. They live in the Bay Area, in San Jose, and Geert had some work in Portland and they were able to take the afternoon to meet up. So Thursday afternoon Teagan and I took them to the beach. We had fun visiting, even though it was a little windy.

Peter Iredale

This is a photo of the Peter Iredale Ship that was built in 1885. It recked here on the Oregon coast on October 25, 1906. Parts of it still remains, and I have been going out there and playing on what is left of the ship since I was little. Below is what it looks like today.

Rusty frame

Barnacles live on the lower part of the frame.

Here is looking through it towards the front of the ship.

Here it is in the snow.

Here it sits on a regular day.

When the tide is really low, and the sand has washed away, you can actually still see some of the teak decking.

The Beach-No Snow vs. Snow

Here I am, 33wks pregnant!

And now here I am 2 1/2wks not pregnant!

No snow

Snow!
(and yes, we did eventually go back to the car and put on our jackets! Don't worry mom-both of you.)

James and Kiely, she loves the beach, she can just run and run! Notice my husband, shorts and bare feet! (November 22, mind you)
Kiely and I on the beach, in the snow! (December 19)

James and I (and Kiely) like to go to the beach. Since we live right on the Oregon coast why not go. It is refreshing and beautiful. One of our favorite spots is the Peter Iredale beach. I have some photos that I was meaning to post up from our visit there from Nov. 22. Mind you I was still pregnant (33wks). As most of you know we have been having some snow fall here, and I was getting a little cabin fever staying at home, so I told James that I wanted to go to the beach, because I have never seen the beach with snow before. So here are some before and after photos.
