The Sex!!!!

It's a BOY!!!!!
Teagan Alan Sullivan
Yep, that's right! James and I had our big appt this morning, as you know I was filled with nerves. I have to put up pictures from today later. Make no mistake about it, our boy was not shy in the least bit. legs far apart for us to see, even the doctor said, "Wow, I am 99% sure this is a boy!" We are very excited, and it looks like he is 9 oz, we heard his heat beating about 137 beats per minute, very normal. No cleft pallet, no spine-abifita, no downs, all good things. We saw all four chambers of his heart, his spine, ribs, stomach, femur, tibia, fibula, and of course his not so shy "part!"
I am gaining weight apparently, and from our last appt I've gained 7lbs! I am feeling just great! I have finished with my summer classes and am looking forward to a nice month off!

Nerves

As I am making my way through finals week, I can't help but to think that by the end of this week I will be finished with summer term, and we'll know what the sex of the baby is. I find it to be nerve racking, scary, exciting and still a little in disbelief. Thursday will be the big day if he or she cooperates with us and isn't shy. James and I have names picked out, well let me rephrase that, we have had a boys name picked out for quite some time and recently James came up with a girls name. So now we are set, and are just waiting to put one of them in use.
I went to Portland a few weeks ago to go shopping with my mom to buy some new clothes, which I always enjoy, but this was a little different....Maternity. So I was able to find lots of clothes, racked it in at Motherhood Maternity, but now I have a pair of capris that are already feeling tight! Guess I'll have to get used to that!
I'll be posting the results from Thursday's appointment, so look forward to that!

18wks thoughts

This picture is from the weekend of my girlfriends bridal shower, July 19th.
Today is Thursday, the 7th, and in a week from today, James and I are finding out the sex of the baby. It is a scary thought, it will become more real. I have deffinatly poped as people have said to me lately. I will post those pictures soon. I am deffinatley looking more pregnant rather than just chubby. We have a boys name picked out but we are struggling with a girls name. We have the middle name but no first name. So I guess we are hoping more for a boy since we have a name but we'll see....

Friends & Family

This is my mom and my best friend Lacey, who came down to hang out with me for the weekend. Lacey lives over in Redmond, and my mom in Tigard, so it was nice to see them!

This is my best friend, Kirk, we were able to hang out over 4th of July. He lives up in Seattle and came out to the coast for a visit. It was great seeing him. He was my "Male of Honor" at our wedding! I wouldn't have done it any other way!

My brother, Adam, and I. He came out to Astoria from Bend over the weekend of July 19th. He is my little brother, anbd yet he is way taller than me....not fair!

14 Week Update!

Today James and I went for our appt that we usually have every 4wks. We found out that Dr. Holland likes to fly and build planes, so he and James talked about that while I laid on the table. It was funny because at one point I said, "so I was having some pain in my wrist yesterday..." and they both looked over at me and the doctor said, " oh yeah we have to talk about you now" umm yeah, hello! I said. The appointment was short and we listened to our babies heart and it is normal for this age, it was in the 150's he said. It was nice when we heard the heart beat, and I looked over at James who was smiling which made me smile. It was a nice moment.
The doctor informed us about a test that they offer between 15-18wks gestation, which is called the quad test, for which I almost fell off the table thinking we were having four babies! Not true, we only have one, lets make that clear! The quad test is a test that they do to test for downs syndrome, trisome 18, spinabifita and another one can't think of the name, another pregnancy moment! Anyway we have decided to go ahead and have it down in two weeks, and at that time I will be 16wks. It is a blood test and I believe an ultra sound will be done as well. But the BIG test will be done in 5wks on Aug 14th to determine what we are having!
Which brings me to another thing, finding out the sex....friends of ours who have not found out before hand say don't find out. Friends who have say to find out. I told James I don't care what we are having so it doesn't matter to me, but he wants to know so we are. This way we know to start buying pink or blue, not just green and yellow. Our friends have said, the ones that didn't find out, that it was so much more exciting finding out right when it was born, then just having the ultra sound technician tell them, but each to their own.
I am continuing to feel great, I have noticed I am a little tired some days, but since I am going to school, I am on a schedule which helps me to keep stimulated. I will be happy to have about a month off between summer and fall classes, about at the end of Aug.
I am hoping to get some pictures posted soon, but I need James to help me with that, because I am just not that computer literate!

10wk Baby Picture

So here is our 10wk ultrasound that we went to on 6/12. James and I were able to hear our baby's heart beat, that was very cool! It makes a loud swshhing noise at about 160 beats per min, very normal! It sounds like swwiisshhh, swwiisshhhh. In the picture you can see how much the baby has grown since the last picture. You can actually see the baby's head, body and a little bit of the arms and legs. The white object near the head is not a nose as my mother- and father-in-law thought, it is the baby's hand waving at us. Towards the bottom (or the right side of the picture) is the baby's foot sticking up. The doctor was also able to see the red and blue blood (oxygenated and deoxygenated) going through the umbilical cord up through the placenta, then he was able to have us see the baby's circulatory system where we could see the blood going from the umbilical cord into the baby and up and down "its" body-head-feet. I still have been feeling just great. People ask me, "How are you feeling?" which is funny to me because I don't feel any different than when I wasn't pregnant, so it sometimes throws me off gaurd, because I want to say, "Did you hear I wasn't feeling good or something, or should I not be feeling good?" But I know that people are just caring and concerned and want me to be feeling great, which I am! I have another appt. in 4wks, which will bring me to 14wks at that point.

Big News!

Some of you may know already, but yes indeed, we are pregnant! Here is our first ultra sound picture! It turns out that we, and the computer, thought I was 9 1/2 wks along then we had an appt and per the doctor, who is maybe more reliable, said that by the mesurement of the baby it looks like we are only 6 1/2 wks. So back to reading about week six in our books!

So it is hard to see here, but "it" is on the right hand side in the middle of the black spot of the picture. "It" is still very small, but James and I saw the heart flickering away inside me. What a crazy experience that was! I was nervous to look, you just don't know what to expect to see...or not to see. James and I are very excited and now our due date is Jan. 9, 2009!

Stay tuned for updates!
