Minor Set Back

As I had mentioned in the last post we were planning on going home today. Change of plans....This morning Teagan did in deed have his circumcision done today. The doctor did a great job. Teagan did fuss a bit but I gave him some sucrose on his binkie and then we was fine. After that we went back to the NICU and waiting for the doctor to check him out and to give us the okay to go. We've had the same doctor for the week and today we had a new one, since our doctor had been on for 10 days. So with a new doctor comes a new perspective. He thought that Teagan looked yellow, indicating Jaundice, and that during the night and the 7am feeding he did poorly on his intake. He also lost weight, he is down from birth weight of 5lbs 13oz to 5lbs 5oz. They want to see him improve, so they have decided to keep him another day or so. I was very disappointed to hear this all. We were ready to bring him home today, bags were (are) packed and I am ready just to get home and get on with it.We talked to another mom who we've made acquaintance with, and she said the same thing happened to her son. Teagan had his Hep B vaccine 2 days ago and then his circumcision today, so he just might be tired. The doctor wanted to check his billy ruben level for jaundice and the other day it was at a 10 and today it is 9.99, which is actually going down , which is in the right direction. So I think that because the doctor has never seen him before he just isn't used to what he locks like. But that is ok, and he just wants to make sure he is okay before sending us home and for him not to be okay and for us to have to come back. So, in the mean time, we are still up here in Portland, and Teagan is still in the NICU. Better days are coming, and we will bring him home when he is ready.
